ChangeBEAT's change methodology is backed up by an extensive set of tools which enable us to help our customers realise their business goals faster. They are: The Analyser The Analyser is a comprehensive database of over 250 separate company business metrics. It provides a way for customers to assess company performance by comparing Key Performance Indicators to industry norms and enables stack ranking, market segment comparison and trend analysis. The Analyser also contains a tool which helps us to perform a rigorous analysis of problems (such as "project overruns", or "not enough leads") to ensure our change programmes address the root causes rather than the symptoms of problems. The MAPPERs The MAPPERs enable us rapidly to specify a business improvement for our customers. Our description of a business improvement (or a new or transformed business) will always include
BenefitMAPPER Without a clear business case there is no reason to embark upon a business improvement programme. BenefitMAPPER is a methodology with supporting tools that is used to develop a business case for a particular business improvement. ProcessMAPPER ProcessMAPPER is a detailed end-to-end process map of activities within a company covering business planning; marketing; sales; delivery; and management support. These activities are subdivided into "processes" and "sub-processes". Inside ProcessMAPPER is a definition of how the process adds value by converting inputs to outputs. ProcessMAPPER provides a powerful model against which to compare a real company's processes. It enables comparison with industry best practice by establishing the presence or absence of the elements of process and the associated deliverables. ProcessMAPPER enables us quickly to build a business improvement framework. At a lower level of granularity, ProcessMAPPER also contains a "data dictionary" of the things we would expect to see as part of the inputs and outputs. For example, in a Project Definition we would expect to see a unique project reference, project name, Account Manager name, Solution Developer name, methodology description, deliverables, customer responsibilities and so on. This extends the use of the ProcessMAPPER as a comparative tool and template for highlighting possible business process defects and inefficiencies and designing process improvements. ChangeMAPPER Our experience shows that any business improvement should be delivered as a series of activities, milestones, "quick wins" and incremental improvements rather than as a monolithic "boil the ocean" project. We will therefore always use our ChangeMAPPER to show in detail what we would expect to deliver in the releases of an improvement, with subsequent enhancements being shown at a higher level for future release. The KITs The KITs, enable us rapidly to build high quality business improvement definitions and supporting toolsets. It consists of the following elements BaseKIT BaseKIT provides a rapid route to well structured, high quality business process documentation. It provides document definitions, templates, file naming conventions, standards and change control procedures to enable the rapid development of a new or improved process. ExecKIT® ExecKIT® is our substantial library of reusable best practice guides, templates and checklists defining industry best practice, which are in use by customers around the world. The tools are accompanied by process guides (at least one for each process defined in the ProcessMAPPER) which shows how the ExecKIT® tools are used to produce the outputs of the processes defined. Some examples of ExecKIT® tools are: business plan templates; stakeholder analysis methods; marketing planning methodologies; product development plans; service product descriptions; marketing collateral templates; sales plans; qualification checklists; project definition templates; CV templates. ExecKIT® contains over five hundred field-tested tools developed by experienced industry specialists, and are in active use by company professionals around the globe. For more on ExecKIT® click here. FieldKIT A suitable distribution mechanism for the business improvement support material is vital. Unless the material is readily available, how can people in the field be expected to use it effectively? One obvious way to distribute it is using an intranet site and FieldKIT provides a flexible, multi-view way to present process material and tools to make it as easy as possible for a user to access. ChangeKIT We define a change as the set of events that surrounds the launch of the improvement programme, even though we start planning for the change well in advance. ChangeKIT helps make sure that everyone knows what is coming, that it is taken seriously, that possible trouble spots are identified and addressed, and that the change is "bolted" into the management system, including the review process and compensation systems, where appropriate. ChangeKIT provides change plan templates, status report templates and many re-useable examples of successful executive communications (in different media) that can be adapted and re-used. SupportKIT Defining and rolling out the improvement is only the start. It is SupportKIT that actually drives home the business improvement for our customers by supporting, reviewing and measuring use, defining plans to improve usage, and gathering feedback on how the process should be improved. This feedback is then used to drive the next round of performance improvement. |
